Paris And Britney BFF: Badly, Foolishly, Frocked

Paris Hilton, the Doyenne of Dull, may be sinking from the A-list but she is firmly anchored to the hull of Mr. Blackwell’s Worst Dressed List. However, even this accolade she must share. Hilton and newest gal pal, pop princess Britney Spears both share the top spot this year for the duo who could most do with a lesson in style.

From the fleeting moments of yesteryear when all the adoring press had Hilton on their lips, it is now de rigueurto spit the name like a cocktail of UV orange vodka and Mountain Dew. With the world watching her in all the wrong places, Paris has finally earned a post somewhere deserving. For the 47th year, self-appointed fashion guru Mr. Blackwell named all the latest and greatest who apparently should hang in the gallows with their stylists immediately following.

Called “style free and fashion deprived,” Hilton and Spears were also dubbed “Screamgirls” by the octogenarian Blackwell whose own opinion on fashion can be traced to his success as a popular Los Angeles clothing designer in the 1960’s. Without mentioning their insistence on going commando, Blackwell described Hilton and Spears as “two peas in an overexposed pod.”

The Los Angeles-based heiress made a name for herself along with ex-buddy Nicole Ritchie on Fox’s ‘The Simple Life’. A much-ballyhooed feud between the two simmered Hilton’s press but the photographers kept on coming to capture the occasional crotch shot and nipple droop. Along the way she came out with a self-titled musical debut which opened at number 6 on the Billboard 200, while continuing as party girl deluxe.

Hilton and Spears share the dubious title with such luminaries as the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles (“a royal wreck”), Lindsay Lohan (“tragically trapped in the fast lane” ), Mariah Carey (“queen of catastrophic kitsch”) and Meryl Streep.
